On Tuesday, Sept. 17, the Candor Chamber of Commerce and Candor Forward had a meeting together; both are busy getting ready for the fast approaching Candor Fall Festival as well as working on future events in Candor. ???

A Fall Fest Party has been planned for Saturday, Oct. 12, starting at 5 p.m. at the Candor Town Hall Pavilion. Volunteers and work crews are getting together to complete the pavilion by finishing the siding, possibly adding some more electrical outlets, and investigating what needs to be done to finish the rest rooms.

Many other details were discussed and are being looked into such as lighting, the sound system and more. ??

There will be a couple of food trucks, a band, wine tasting, fire pits and a s’mores bar at the Fall Fest Party, so be sure to bring your camp chairs or blankets and enjoy relaxing with your friends and neighbors after a hectic day at the Fall Fest.

Rita Kellogg, President of the Candor Chamber, reported on goat farm tours being held at Side Hill Acres on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wine and cheese tasting from the Finger Lakes Cheese Alliance will be on hand, lots of activities for the kids, and a wide selection of vendors; and there is still space for vendors, so anyone interested needs to get in touch with Side Hill Acres or a member of the Candor Chamber.

There was a report on the Candor Historical Society sponsoring a cemetery walk with Phil Jordan at Maple Grove Cemetery on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 1 p.m. Dick Zavatto encouraged those interested to attend the walk and learn some facts about some of Candor’s deceased.

After talking about the details still needed for the Candor Fall Fest, David Astorina reported that 5,000 daffodil bulbs are arriving in about a week. They talked about different locations to plant them around the Village of Candor and the different groups who might help, and bagging some of the bulbs and selling them during the Fall Festival.

This Candor Fall Festival will be the 29th Annual Wood carvers show and sale at the Candor Fire Station on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.? Raffle tickets are available prior to and during the show for Noah’s Ark with hand carved animals.? (Winners announced on Sunday at 4 p.m.) Nancy King, part of the Candor Fire Ladies Auxiliary, reminded the group that food and beverage are served by them on the days of the show.

The New Quilters on the Block will be holding their 24th quilt show at the EMS Building on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. They are holding a raffle to benefit local charities, a small quilt silent auction, door prizes and more.? (The raffle drawing will be Sunday at 4:00pm.)

Another event mentioned is the annual craft fair, bake sale and luncheon to be held at the Candor American Legion on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., as part of the Candor Fall Fest.?? The lunch will start being served at 11:30 a.m. and will be chicken and biscuits. Raffles and a 50/50 drawings will also be done.

I will be sure to list more events next week; it always amazes me the work that goes into all of these events and many of the residents of the community are involved in more than one group.? It is truly a very busy weekend for Candor.

The members of the Chamber of Commerce and Candor Forward ended the meeting all knowing their assignments to help the events move forward.?
